I am so excited to see the integration of Istockphoto in with the posts. I have long been a user at Istock to make free blog templates for people so it's great to see them widen their exposure to Vox users. There are some great illustrators that send their work to istock so I look forward to seeing their art used in Vox posts. Hooray!
We're going meta today: What questions would you'd like to see become QoTDs?
What is the first purchase you remember making with your own hard-earned money?
If you could eat dinner with one person from the past, dead or alive, who would it be?
What would you name your band if you had one?
What is your favorite time of year?
If you were given a free round-trip plane ticket to anywhere in the US, where would you go? What about anywhere in the world?
If you were trying to promote the city you live in to someone, what would you tell them about it?
I'm speaking at a Day One Beginning Blogger workshop at Blogher in about four weeks. It's called "Blog In A Box" and is described as follows:
All the basics for the beginning blogger, or the blogger who wants to take the next steps toward geekdom. New bloggers will create a blog with RSS feeds, a blog roll, and know how to add links/photos to their blog. Basic to intermediate html will be covered. We’ll also cover how to switch from one blog tool to another. Miss Zoot and Heathervescent are on hand to walk you through. Plus, Melinda Casino will cover the nuances of good blog manners: disclosure, attribution, non-spammy commenting and trackbacks.
We are having a conference call today to discuss how to present the information, what platforms to discuss, etc etc. I had, at one point during the days of "COMET" hoped to be able to discuss VOX as a current option of choices, but since it doesnt look like it's going to be accessible without invitation, I guess I'll just be able to discuss it "theoretically." I'm sure I'll give out plenty of my starter invites, and maybe I'll have a few standards to share as well...we'll see.
Some pokemon my son gave me
Well, the test failed because it still added this crap (To play video messages sent to email, QuickTime 6.5 or higher is required. Visit www.apple.com/quicktime/download to download the free player or upgrade your existing QuickTime Player. Note: During the download) with the entry from my cell phone. Can I fix this on my end somehow? Is there a setting I can change with my cell phone (damn you Verizon!) or is this one of the mobloggin' problems other Verizon users are having?
Testing to see if verizon works better now
(Nope. It still added the crap about viewing image with Quicktime. I wasnt sure if that would get fixed the the most recent round of de-bugging or not, and I'm not even sure if that's all in place yet - but I thought I'd give it a whirl.)
Dude. I look THRILLED to be alive, don't I?
Okay - I love love LOVE the whole QOTD feature on Vox. It makes me feel all tingly when I am given immediate blog material form the homepage. Here's the thing: There is no quick and easy way to see all of the answers at once, and that would be cool. Like, maybe make unique tags for that day's question (June 23 QUOTD or something) and have a link to that tag under the actual question on the main page like ("Today's answers...") or something. I would love a quick reference for everyone's answers, even of those NOT in my neighborhood.
When I tested posting my photos from Flickr last time, I had to search with a tag to find one I wanted. This time? It showed me my most recently uploads as first-click options. ROCKIN. I dont know if Flickr was just sleepy this morning, or what, but I'm loving this capability.
Oh - the picture is what my daughter's teacher made for my husband (??) for Father's Day. It's ROCKIN' too.
