What was your most memorable or favorite school field trip?
Actually, it was in High School. I had finally gotten to the phase in my life where I thought my Dad was really cool. My Senior year they were taking the Advanced Bio class (mine) and the Freshmen Bio classes to the Chattanooga aquarium and they were short on chaperones. My Dad hadn't ever done anything like that before but I knew he would LOVE it because he always enjoyed being a part of group functions with me and other kids my age. He chaperoned and it was a ton of fun. I always have wondered if he enjoyed that as much as I did.
My mom used to manage an arcade called Family Gameland after her and my dad split when I was little. On the weekends we spent with her, we would go with her to open the place up on Saturday mornings and when she turned on all the machines, there was one credit on each one. My brother and I would fight over who got to use the Paperboy free credit, as well as Pole Position, Centipede and Astroids.
Later, she managed/worked at a bar (Rocky Hill Tavern, why do I still remember that?) and they had the Astroids and Centipede games there too - so those were definitely my favorites. As well as dropping quarters in the Juke Box to play some really cheesy music I don't even want to admit to.
Now? I really don't play games anymore. It's just not my thing. But my son loves Pokemon on his hand-held thing (I dont even know the names of them all - I'm so lame) and my husband LOVES NCAA Football on the systems we have at home.
I call foods I despised as a child my "blacklisted" foods and periodically I'll try one of them to see if they should be removed. Green Olives? Off the blacklist. Mayonaise? Off. Spaghetti? Most definitely off. But V8 juice? That stuff is NASTY and will stay on forever.
